Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Alembic ("the Service"), operated by James McArthur as a sole proprietorship. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One account per person — don't share accounts. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

Your Content

You own your documents. Uploading a document to Alembic does not transfer ownership. We process your documents solely to provide the extraction service. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your uploaded content or extracted data.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload illegal content or documents you don't have rights to process
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
• Use the Service to build a competing product
• Abuse the API with excessive requests beyond your plan's rate limits
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure

AI Processing Disclaimer

Alembic uses AI to extract structured data from documents. Your documents are processed by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI, depending on your space configuration). Extraction results are AI-generated and should be reviewed by a human. The Service does not provide legal, financial, or professional advice. You are responsible for verifying extracted data before using it in business decisions.

Service Availability

We provide the Service on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee specific uptime or availability. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects access. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of planned downtime.

Billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Plan limits apply as described on our pricing page. Usage-based charges (AI processing costs) are metered and billed according to your plan. You can cancel your subscription at any time — access continues until the end of your billing period.

Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. All your data will be permanently removed. We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where possible.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alembic's total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
