Your plan's base price covers the platform — spaces, review, the AI copilot, the API. The AI work behind each extraction is metered separately, at exactly what the model provider charged us for that call. Nothing is estimated and nothing is padded beyond the fee below.
The formula
Provider cost (what Anthropic or OpenAI actually charged for that call) + a flat 10% platform fee = what you pay. No hidden multiplier, no per-seat AI tax. Enterprise negotiates its own rate per contract, based on volume.
A cap on every plan
Every plan has a monthly spending cap, so nothing runs away on you. Hit it, and further AI processing pauses until next month's reset — or you raise it yourself. Your account and everything you've already processed stay exactly as they are.
Most documents: under $0.10
A typical invoice, contract, or form costs a few cents in AI usage. Longer documents, more fields, or Analyst questions cost more — and you'll always see the number, never have to guess it.

What counts as a document?
Every file you upload and process counts once against your plan's limit — a one-page receipt and a forty-page contract both count as one. If a single upload gets split into several logical documents (1:many splitting), each resulting document counts separately, since each one is extracted and reviewed on its own.
What happens when I hit my document limit?
New uploads pause until your limit resets — monthly for paid plans, or when you upgrade off the Free plan's lifetime cap. Nothing already processed is touched; your existing documents, extractions, and data stay fully accessible.
What happens when I hit my monthly AI cost cap?
Further AI processing pauses for the rest of the billing month once you hit your cap. You'll see it coming in the usage dashboard before it happens, and you can raise the cap yourself from Settings → Billing. Your account and everything already processed are never at risk.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing whenever you want — no phone call, no retention flow. You keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
Do unused documents roll over to next month?
No. Monthly document limits reset with each billing cycle and don't carry over.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Neither Anthropic nor OpenAI use API data to train their models, and Alembic doesn't use your documents to train anything either — ours or anyone else's. Full detail on our Security page.
Is there a free trial, and what payment methods do you accept?
The Free plan is the trial — 12 documents, no credit card required, the same extraction pipeline as every paid plan. When you're ready to upgrade, Individual and Pro are self-serve with a credit card via Stripe; Enterprise is arranged directly through Contact.
